Dear H.E. Ugaas Maxamed, son of Ugaas Hashi bin Ugaas Xirsi:

Asalaamu Calaykum waraxmatuLlahi wabarakaat;

I hope this public message finds you in good health.  As you remember, you and I had a deal before you departed to assume the traditional leadership of Marehan, after the death of your step-Father and then our Supreme Ugaas, Ugaas Cumar Ugaas Xirsi (Allaha Naxariistii Jano ha siiyo), for more than 50 years.

Our deal: that you will re-establish the great leadership of OUR Patriarch and YOUR Grand Father, Ugaas Xirsi; that YOU WILL LEAD MAREHAN TO PEACE, thus bringing Southern Somalia and Somalia that much close to lasting PEACE and PROSPERITY for all; that you will be The Ugaas, our Ugaas, and not a Politician, leaving politics to those that so desire or are better suited.

My Ugaas, Our Ugaas:

As the good Book of Ecclesiastes instructs/dictates:

  To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

YOUR PURPOSE is well defined and your time has come:  Lead Marehan and Jubaland to peace.  This is your PURPOSE and not that of politicians and armed malitia leaders. It is not H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s and certainly not H.E. Prime Minster Shirdoon.

There is a season to every thing and time to every purpose:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, a time to reap that which is planted;

OUR TIME is NOW: to plant and so we may reap that which we WILL plant in Juba. That was OUR deal and your defined duty as this clan’s returning favored SON. Yes, the challenges are enormous and it appears the clouds of WAR may be returning.

There is a season to every thing and time to every purpose:

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

Jubaland must be established and peace must be sought at all costs: peace, and lasting one, is what you must seek.  And for that purpose, Marehan, our clan, must even give up JUSTICE or “power” for PEACE. You must lead Marehan to GIVE UP, so we MAY reap that which we will plant in Juba.

There is a season to every thing and time to every purpose:

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace

A time to get, AND A TIME TO LOSE; a time to keep, and a time to cast away [STONES];

A time to rend, and a time to sow; a time to keep silence, AND A TIME TO SPEAK;

My Ugaas, Our Ugaas:

There is a season to every thing and time to every purpose:

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of [for] war; and a time to refrain from embracing that GREAT SIN of WAR; and a time of peace.

I swear, it is not too late! May PEACE and Allah be with you,

Sincerely Yours,

Abdiwahab Abdullahi Musse Tarey, PhD
