Somali Diaspora from Bakool condemn the Baydhabo Conferences and the presidential Elections

The Somali Diaspora from Bakool region of Somalia in North America hereby condemns the ongoing conferences in Baydhabo where a regional state government is intended to be formed. We don’t recognize the legitimacy of these meetings and realize that the two meetings are conducted unconstitutional. We are the people of Bakool especially from the districts of Ceelbrade, Aato, and Yeed have not even been invited to participate the regional administration process. We cannot accept the result of an unconstitutional gathering and will not be able to recognize the legitimacy of any elections held. We ask the federal government, IGAD, and world communities to not recognize these two concurrent processes that are conducted illegally by warlords.

As stated in the Somali constitution, the federal government must lead any state building initiatives. All the people of this region need to be invited to have an all-inclusive transparent process where everyone is fully represented.
